Allied REIT is looking for a Security Manager for The Well.

What is The Well?

The Well is a unique and innovative joint venture between Allied and Riocan.

Located at Spadina and Front, The Well brings together three million square feet of retail, office, and residential space constructed over 7.7 acres. Through this, The Well sets the stage for meaningful experiences that draw people from down the street and across the globe to eat, shop, work, live and play in Toronto.

What will you do?

The responsibilities below describe your primary responsibilities. They require elaboration, but we can discuss them further in person.

  • Manage and coordinate the Operational Security and Life Safety program in coordination with a third-party security provider.
  • Manage both the Property Fire and Life Safety program and the Occupational Health and Safety program to ensure applicable legislative codes, industry practices, and company standards are maintained.
  • Chair the Joint Health and Safety Committee and ensure occupational health and safety is prioritized and effectively practised throughout all areas of the property.
  • Implement and maintain a program of regular inspections and risk assessments in common areas, work areas and tenant leased premises for the purposes of identifying and correcting unsafe, hazardous working conditions.
  • Manage emergency response and business continuity programs, including the preparation and upkeep of the Emergency Response Plan, Business Continuity Plan, and Fire Safety Evacuation Plans in support of an effective and sustained response effort in emergencies.

How are you qualified?

We look forward to learning about all your accomplishments, but the list below describes the must-haves for the role.

  • Valid Provincial Security License and certification in First Aid, CPR, and WHMIS.
  • A minimum of 5 years working in security management in commercial real estate, ideally at a complex portfolio or site (i.e., a large, mixed-use facility).
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with a proven ability to build relationships.
  • Foundational accounting skills, including the development and administration of capital and operational department budgets.
  • In-depth knowledge of Security and Life Safety technology (i.e. CCTV, Access Control, Fire Alarm, Intrusion) and other security-related systems.
  • Knowledge and understanding of applicable federal, provincial, and municipal legislation and regulations in Security and Life Safety management.
  • Sound knowledge of industry techniques and emergent trends in Security and Life Safety management, as well as Risk Management and Crime Prevention.
  • Knowledge of Yardi would be an asset.
