Summary

Position Overview:

RioCan owns, manages and develops retail-focused, increasingly mixed-use properties located in prime, high-density, transit-oriented areas where Canadians want to shop, live and work. We launched our ESG strategy in 2016 with the goal to be among the leaders in integrating ESG practices across the business. RioCan has made significant progress towards this goal and is looking for an Analyst to help support our efforts to continuously improve.

This position is responsible for assisting with RioCan’s sustainability and energy/emissions initiatives, and reporting and maintaining our ESG data.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the delivery of ESG, GRESB and EWRB reporting activities (e.g., data collection, verification of report metrics, back-up materials, etc.)
  • Other sustainability disclosures and reporting as required.
  • Assist with maintenance of utility data management system, resolve utility account issues.
  • Ensure completeness and accuracy of utility data, property data, etc. in the utility data management system.
  • Assist with preparing and implementing resource efficiency measures and track progress of long term targets.
  • Support compliance with provincial energy benchmarking programs.
  • Assist with energy and emissions reduction capital projects.
  • Support the implementation of third-party building certification programs.
  • Work with large volumes of data to aggregate and analyze utility data for reporting.
  • Other ad hoc projects as required, including project management tasks related to ESG program at RioCan.

Qualification Requirements:

  • University or College degree/diploma in business or sustainability, or a related field.
  • 2 to 4 years’ experience as an Analyst. Sustainability experience in real estate is an asset.
  • Understanding of ESG related issues, including climate change.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
  • Proven project management, creative problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Must be able to work well in a team environment and possess a high level of oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong and proven quantitative analysis skills, including demonstrated experience working with large volumes of data.
  • Experience with Energy Star Portfolio Manager or similar energy benchmarking tools preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical systems is an asset.
